The Lisbon Wine Demarcated Region covers a strip of land approximately 150 kilometres long, stretching from Carcavelos Beach, Cascais, in the south, to Osso da Baleia Beach, Leiria, in the north. It is around forty kilometres wide. There are around ten thousand hectares of certified vineyards, offering great variety.

The Demarcated Region includes nine Designations of Origin that reflect this diversity.

They do, however, share certain climatic characteristics, such as the morning humidity carried by the Atlantic breeze, which gives the wines a distinctive salinity. The clay, limestone and loam soils, combined with long hours of sunshine, also mark the local viticulture.

Atlantic Allies

Lisbon wines are heavily influenced by exposure to the Atlantic, reflecting the true Portuguese character. Fresh yet bold, they possess a distinct salinity and an adventurous spirit eager for new discoveries.
