Hugo Mendes was studying Biotechnology Engineering when he decided to do an internship in a wine company. His aim was to gain a better understanding of a world that fascinated him, but he ended up discovering his true calling there. After gaining experience at various companies, all in the Lisbon region, he set out on his own in 2016, backed by a crowdfunding project.
His approach is guided by minimal intervention in the winery, allowing the grape varieties to speak for themselves. He made his debut with Fernão Pires and Arinto in 2016; in 2018 he focused on single-varietal wines made from Fernão Pires and Vital, and in 2019 he produced a red wine from Castelão and a sparkling wine.
