This estate once belonged to the Marquis of Valada, but was purchased in 1872 by Joaquim Franco Cannas, and remains in his family's possession today. It was António Maria Cannas who decided to focus on producing Portuguese grape varieties, particularly reds. In 2008, the first wine was produced, crafted by oenologists Nuno Cancela de Abreu and Hugo Mendes.
