Nuno Monteiro Pereira has vivid memories of wine-making at his grandparents' homes, on both his mother's and father's sides. His father went into medicine, but later also took up wine-making. It was therefore no great surprise when Nuno, having established his own medical career, decided to buy an estate to carry on the tradition.
He began by restoring the house at Quinta do Cerrado da Porta, but eventually turned his attention to the vineyard, replanting the existing vines and leasing plots on neighbouring land. In 2015, he produced his first wines made from his own grapes, harvested from the fourteen hectares of vineyard, under the guidance of winemaker Alexandra Mendes.
