The history of Adega Casal da Manteiga is closely linked to the efforts to revive the traditional Vinho de Carcavelos. This fortified wine was once in danger of disappearing, but thanks to the efforts of Oeiras Municipal Council in the 1980s, it was possible to revive it.
It is on this estate that the hand-harvested grapes used to produce Villa Oeiras are processed. It is also here that the wine is aged in barrels. Gone are the days when it was feared that Vinho de Carcavelos would be lost forever. Today, alongside Adega Casal da Manteiga, there are twenty hectares of vineyards, firmly rooted in history.
