The historic Quinta de São Bartolomeu, covering nine hectares, has belonged to the Cunha family since 1578. More than four centuries later the Sociedade Agrícola Cunha Folque was formed to manage the estate. José Folque took over the business and set about purchasing further land, expanding the estate to 40 hectares, 25 of which were vineyards.
