Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal

The Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal was created by the businessman Abel Pereira da Fonseca to bring together three wine-producing estates. Together, they covered 140 hectares. His son, Joaquim Pereira da Fonseca, continued the business, but it was his grandson, Carlos João Pereira da Fonseca, who carried out the vineyard restructuring and modernisation that shape the company today.

At present, the Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal is strongly focused on exports and still produces wine brandy (aguardente) and grape marc spirit (bagaço), alongside its wine tourism offerings. The family dimension remains very much alive, with members of the fifth generation actively involved.
