Quinta da Romeira
Quinta da Romeira
Quinta da Romeira is deeply rooted in Portugal's history. In 1703, it formed part of the Morgado de Santa Catarina, established by D. Catarina de Bragança, who went on to become Queen of England. In the following century, it served as the official residence of General Wellington during the Napoleonic Wars. Wellington helped to popularise Bucelas wines in the United Kingdom.
Today, the estate is owned by Sogrape, one of the country's largest wine producers. Sogrape has modernised the property and restructured the vineyards. It has also invested in environmental sustainability. Its flagship wines are Prova Régia, Morgado de Santa Catherina and the Quinta da Romeira sparkling wine.
