Ever since he was a young boy, António João Paneiro Pinto has remembered wine being a topic of conversation at the dinner table. In the 1980s, he inherited Chão do Prado, where he began by restructuring the vineyards, focusing on three local grape varieties: Arinto, Esgana-Cão and Rabo de Ovelha. His commitment to sparkling wine, beginning in 1993, helped drive Bucelas to become a demarcated region for this variety in 1999. He currently produces sparkling wine, white wine and late-harvest wine, which can be tasted at the Chão do Prado restaurant, next to the estate, overlooking part of the organically farmed vineyards.
